Five trends in the unified communication and collaboration market in 2019

Lao Qin Ye translation

CTI Forum () (compilation/Lao Qin): in 2018, the unified communication market witnessed rapid innovation, industry integration and the transformation to team and workflow collaboration. Now, it's time to look into the future and look at the five communication and collaboration trends in the unified communications market in 2019

1. Unified communication has become cloud priority

last year was the turning point of unified communication and collaboration (UCC) in the cloud. According to Nemertes' unified communication and collaboration: 2019 Research Report, 67% of organizations are now doing at least a series of controllable vibration simulation experiments. Some UCC applications are in the cloud, and nearly one third of organizations are in the cloud

cloud methods vary. Larger companies rely more on hosted custom services, while smaller organizations prefer unified communication as a service flexibility and low cost. With the maturity of ucaas products and the increasing ability to support larger global organizations, Nemertes is expected to shift to a multi tenant model and become the preferred cloud UCC method for organizations of all sizes

2. Teamwork as the work center

according to Nemertes' research, nearly half of companies now use teamwork applications, but in many cases, staff still regard these as instant messaging tools. As UCC suppliers regard teamwork as the core of their UCC user experience, it is expected that more attention will be paid to teamwork in 2019. Suppliers focus not only on adoption, but also on how to integrate workflow and external applications into team collaboration applications so that they become the real center of internal and external collaboration

3. Security has become the most important

now, more than one third of organizations have an active UCC security policy, which combines auditing, and enforces the use of encryption, monitoring, penetration testing, patching, firewalls, or applications that can identify UCC traffic and prevent attacks. In general, UCC business leaders do not regard attack threats, denial of service, or data breaches as high priority issues. Unfortunately, before it leaders pay due attention to UCC security, Europe may need to carry out a well-known attack because it has the world's first advanced manufacturing and processing industry

4. Video is not just a conference.

streaming video can be widely used through consumer platforms, such as Facebook, instagram, periscope and snapchat. Therefore, individuals in the workplace seek the same ability to instantly create and share videos, and even stream videos. Use cases such as supporting field staff, enabling customer service representatives to press the "input 111/6" key to see the content seen by customers, and enabling videos to replace written communications are increasingly interested in supporting streaming video

streaming video is a growing collaboration trend. Nearly 20% of organizations currently support streaming video, and another 14% plan to do so in 2019. A quarter of the organizations have implemented the enterprise content delivery network to optimize the streaming video in their network, while another 13% plan to implement the enterprise content delivery network in 2019

5. Application and workflow integration

integration and collaboration, customer service, workflow and other business applications are the main focus of digital transformation, aiming to provide new internal and external functions using emerging technologies. Over the past few years, more and more UCC vendors now provide APIs that enable customers to integrate communication functions into their existing applications or create new custom applications for functions such as reporting and call management

ucaas providers such as ringcentral and Vonage are promoting the programmability of their platforms as a key differentiator, while Avaya, kerauno, K2 and whispir are seeking to hand over workflow integration tools to non developers. As more and more vendors provide drag and drop integration capabilities, the ability of citizen developers (users who create business applications using an enterprise it approved environment) is expected to improve in 2019

as the development trend of software accelerates the ability of organizations to customize collaborative experience, connect it with workflow and provide new functions (such as supporting streaming video), it is making 2019 an exciting year in the field of UCC. Those who are ahead of these collaborative trends by proactively planning for change while addressing security risks are in the best position to succeed
